Gideon Rubin

Galerie Karsten Greve St. Moritz

3 August - 15 September 2018

Galerie Karsten Greve is pleased to present the first solo show in Switzerland of works by Gideon Rubin. The exhibition in the St. Moritz gallery space includes portraits and landscapes.

His work is about memories that are at the point of fading away. By blurring identifying details, erasing the facial features, the viewer is invited to take an active part and complete the vacant image. This "dialogue" creates a very personal relationship between the artwork and the audience and evokes a feeling of intimacy and nostalgia. A craftsman of memories, his paintings are minimal as forms are reduced to a few broad and fluent brushstrokes that imply rather than describe a figure or landscape.
