Kingsgate Workshops is looking for a new Administrator & Office Manager to work at our busy creative building of artist, designer and maker studios in West Hampstead.
Hours: 21 hours per week, Wednesdays - Friday (this is an office-based position)
Salary: £27-£29k FTE (£16,200-£17,400 pro rata), depending on experience.

Application Deadline: Saturday 3rd January 2026
Interviews: Wednesday 21st January 2026
Provisional Contract Start Date: Wednesday 4th February 2026
We encourage applicants to submit their applications early as we reserve the right to close applications before the deadline if we find the right applicant.

Working in a small, part-time team in a vibrant arts organisation with exciting and ambitious plans, the Administrator & Office Manager will divide their time between facilitating the smooth day-to-day running of the office whilst acting as primary liaison between the Office and our Studio Users.

The idea is to balance the administrative needs of the organisation with maintaining friendly and productive relationships with the Studio Users. The best approach is to apply policy and processes consistently, whilst maintaining a degree of discretion, humanity and a good sense of humour!

Our building is a beautiful but crumbly converted Victorian warehouse, comprising 43 self-contained studio units with a total of 76 artists, designers and craft makers working within them. We’re on the border of Kilburn and West Hampstead, we back onto a lovely park, and we’re close to both the bustling Kilburn High Road, and West Hampstead with their many shops, cafes and restaurants. There are excellent public transport links nearby.
Our Studio Users and maintenance staff pop in and out of the office to chat with us (the door is always open) and we have work closely with our board of skilled and generous trustees. We tend to start work at 10am and finish at 6pm. The role will involve occasional evening and weekend work which we will expect you to manage by taking time off from your regular office hours.
Through 2026 we will be continuing a major piece of work to our building. The new Administrator & Office Manager will need to maintain a strong sense of the progress of the building works and be able to update building users so that they are fully in the picture regarding disruptions. On completion of the works, you will then benefit from the success of ensuring the studios’ longevity and sustainability as we enter our next phase of Kingsgate’s history.

We’re looking for someone in this role who can get their head round all the organisational bits of the job, alongside having a relaxed and imaginative approach to problem solving, and a keenness to join in the enthusiastic conversations about the next steps for Kingsgate Workshops Trust. Good numeracy, attention to detail, and an ability to plan and prioritise tasks are key to this role.
We are committed to building a diverse workforce and welcome applications from underrepresented groups.

Who we are

Kingsgate Workshops is a multi-use art space housed within a labyrinthine Victorian factory, providing affordable workspace for an exciting mix of artists, makers and designers. Our leases are not limited, meaning we have a very established community with some studio holders who have been here since the beginning!
Kingsgate Workshops opens its studios to visitors twice a year for studio holders to meet new viewers and collectors and to provide the public with an insight into the unique skills and processes that our makers demonstrate. Our Project Space public programme (including Artist-in-Residence programme) encourages experimentation and critical conversation and (in the spirit of a studios-based gallery) is more interested in what we don’t know and might find out, than in presenting hermetic, finished, or status exhibitions. We support a crossover between disciplines but have a particular specialism in the problems of painting. Kingsgate Project Space aims to involve a diverse range of contemporary and historic, national, and international artists.
