'Moorland is an exhibition featuring audio works and sound drawings that document my compositions of various moorlands. These works explore the similarities and blurred boundaries between familiar landscapes and new environments, providing a reflective examination of how sound and abstraction convey the essence of place.
“Most often, our perception […] is not sustained, but rather partial, fragmentary, mixed with other concerns. Nearly every sense is in operation, and the image is the composite of them all.” –Kevin Lynch, 1960
Having grown up on the edge of Dartmoor, moorlands has always been part of the everyday—a backdrop so familiar it risks becoming invisible. When a landscape becomes routine, a certain dampening of perception can occur; wonder gives way to habit, and both the subtle and the vast often go unnoticed. A recent trip to Iceland shifted this perspective, providing a new way of perceiving the landscape.'
