Lauren Godfrey in conversation with artist Anthea Hamilton, with introductory reading from Susannah Worth from her book 'Digesting Recipes: The Art of Culinary Notation'. Thursday 9th July, 7.30pm Lauren Godfrey has been working as artists assistant to Anthea Hamilton for the past three years, building a familiar relationship and understanding. Lauren has invited Anthea to discuss the themes and materiality of the work in the exhibition from the perspective of another artist but also a friend, familiar with the thought processes and journey leading to the current exhibition at Kingsgate Workshops. --

Anthea Hamilton lives and works in London and has had solo exhibitions at Firstsite, Colchester (2012), The Tanks, Tate Modern, London (2012), Chisenhale, London (2008). Recent group exhibitions include Don't You Know Who I Am? - Art after Identity Politics, MuKHA, Antwerp (2014), 10th Gwangju Biennale (2014) and Glasgow International (2014). Forthcoming projects include La Biennale de Lyon, SculptureCenter, New York and the British Art Show 8 (all 2015). Susannah Worth lives in London and is a writer and editor. She holds a BA in History of Art from Edinburgh University and MA in Critical Writing in Art & Design from the Royal College of Art. In 2014, she presented Ornamental Cookery as part of the Art Licks Weekend, which invited questions about hospitality, consumption, labour and mass-production, and sought the answers in crab thermidor and chocolate roulade. Her book, Digesting Recipes: The Art of Culinary Notation, is out on 26 June from Zero Books.
