We had an amazing time at the Winter Designer Maker Fair! have a look at our photos and read below for more details about the event.

The Winter Designer Maker Fair is Kingsgate Workshops’ annual festive craft and design sale.

This year a selection of contemporary craft makers and designers, producing everything from high-end ceramics to paper sculpture, will be selling their work from a new outdoor market and in curated indoor shop spaces in our Victorian warehouse building.

Unique and precious gifts, decorations, and wrapping paper will all nestle together on our fairylit market stalls.

We’ll also have festive food and a chance to peek inside the building and its beautiful yard, which are both usually closed to the public.

Night Market – Friday 24th November 6pm-9pm

For 2017, we’ve decided to make the most of our new revamped yard space to hold a night market on the opening night of the Fair.

Browse through the makers and designers who'll be present:

Scarlet Mackmin
Aki Mori
Victoria Umansky

Live Music

We’re proud to present for the first time a line-up of local musicians playing in Studio 6/8. Visitors can warm up while listening to local choirs and acoustic rock bands. We’ll be announcing the full programme on our website as soon as its confirmed!

Mulled Wine in a limited edition Cup, handmade by Freya Bramble Carter

We love serving mulled wine at our winter events, to warm your cockles as you explore our flowering grotto yard. This year there’s an extra special twist – for a few extra coins you can choose to have your mulled wine in a one-off hand crafted ceramic vessel, made especially by Freya Bramble Carter of Great British Pottery Throwdown fame. Of course, once you’ve finished your wine, the cup is yours to keep! We expect we'll have drunk most of the mulled wine by the end of Friday night, so first come first served!

Free canvas bag designed by a Kingsgate artist with every purchase

Our exclusive artist designed goody bags will be available for the first 20 visitors – after that, a donation of £5 will secure you one, plus a selection of limited edition badges designed by our studio holders.

We’ll be displaying the beautiful paper cut art of Chisato Tamabayashi, which will transform our window into a snowy forest scene, casting shadows on the pavement below. Plus the usual plethora of fairylights and foliage to show off our Victorian industrial building to the fullest.

Enjoy festive gourmet treats

The Lounge Cafe's beautiful pop up kitchen will be here, overflowing with lebkuchen and mulled wine. If you fancy something to take home to save for later, we'll have stalls full of festive treats ready wrapped for presents too!

Beautiful new outdoor space

Celebrate the launch of our new revamped yard space – our beautiful garden is now twice the size! Come and see it covered in twinkling lights and scented with woodsmoke and gingerbread spice.

Visitors can head inside the building for a Christmas grotto for grownups, showcasing the objects made by studio holders in festive displays, and to see inside a selectiion of studios to get more insight into the making of the ceramics, jewellery and painting on display.
