Josie Warshaw

Ceramics, Fine Art

Studio 43

Josie Warshaw creates ceramic work, drawings and prints which reference personal experiences, thoughts and observations. Her work blends seriousness with an infusion of comicality.

The hand- built ceramic work shown is made with thin rolled sheets or is pinched and coiled using a white grogged clay. Initially fired in an electric kiln the work is then sawdust or raku fired.

Josie’s work has been sold in England and overseas to both private and public collections, through galleries and can also be bought directly from the maker.

Over her 40 years at Kingsgate Workshops Trust Josie has combined her studio practice with teaching ceramics in adult education venues including: Camberwell School of Art, Camden Arts Centre and the Architectural Association. Josie wrote, “The Complete Practical Potter"" in 2000.

Presently, Josie teaches Handbuilding and Throwing in her studio . (Please see Classes and Workshops) Josie also teaches part-time at the City Lit.
