KINGSGATE EMERGING ARTISTS
ONE DAY WORKSHOPS

A rare opportunity for introduction workshops in:

• Plaster Casting
• Egg Tempera Painting
• Van Dyke Photographic Printing

This year’s resident Emerging Artists at Kingsgate Workshops are offering you the
opportunity to take advantage of their technical specialities in the fields of sculpture,
painting and photography.

Eva Masterman, Benjamin Senior and Ella Bryant are running a set of one-day
workshops in which each will teach a small, select group their specialist technique.
All necessary equipment and materials will be provided, including an assortment of
objects to use during the workshops, although participants are encouraged to bring
their own objects if they wish.

Workshops are £20 per day, with a maximum of eight per workshop to ensure that
each participant receives one to one tutoring throughout the day. Workshops operate
on a first come first serve basis and run as follows:

Tuesday 2 August 2011
Plaster Mould Casting Workshop, lead by Eva Masterman

Transform objects from one material to another through the medium of plaster.

Wednesday 3 August 2011
Egg Tempera Painting Workshop, lead by Benjamin Senior

the paint from scratch.

Thursday 4 August 2011
Van Dyke Photographic Printing Workshop, lead by Ella Bryant

Invented in 1889, Van Dyke printing is an old and barely explored photographic
process that produces a sepia print from natural sunlight.

Duration for all classes: 10am–5pm

Location: Kingsgate Gallery, 110-116 Kingsgate Road, London, NW6 2JG

Open to: Anyone interested in art who would like to gain insights into unusual

MAKING SHADOWS
1st November 2010

A Halloween themed art workshop with Arts Republic - Tom Wilkinson and Molly Fletcher.

Kingsgate Workshops Trust invited over 40 students from Kingsgate Primary Schol  to partake in  a Shadow Puppet workshop.

Each student designed and made a simple shadow puppet on a Halloween theme. Working from their imagination and reference, they designed on paper a scary and spooky face with moving eyes or opening mouth.  They each cut their final designs out of black card, attach operating rods to the moving parts. Finally the lights were turned off and they had the opportunity to try them out  performing their puppet and casting eerie shadows on a proper shadow-puppet screen.

There is a photoshow of the event here.

The Big Draw @ Kingsgate Gallery
Thursday 7th - Friday 8th October 2010, 10am –5pm
Public viewing Friday 8th October 4pm – 8pm
There is a photoshow of this event.

As part of the national Big Draw campaign, over two days local primary schools were invited to bring their pupils to the Kingsgate Workshop Trust gallery to take part in the creation of ainstallation; to cover the walls of the gallery space with drawings.

Drawings were created looking at the personal interests of each individual; following a Victorian tradition called ‘What are you like’. Following a drawing frenzy, the installation was open to the public for one night only, inviting parents of all the participants to come and view their children’s input, and for the pupil to receive a certificate stating that ‘I have exhibited at the Kingsgate Gallery’.
