Statement

Angela Cork designs and makes unique contemporary silverware. Her minimalist and geometric forms have a very graphic quality, which is the result of working faithfully to the original line drawing.

Her inspiration for the pieces she makes comes from an interest in the form and space of our natural and built environments. Key influences are Architecture, Japanese and Formal Gardens, and beyond the physical forms of these spaces, the creative and ritualistic thinking behind their construction also inspires her.

Angela's work is carefully fabricated from sheet and soldered into structural arrangements. The main form for her work is receptacles; designed to enhance what they contain. Her vases to frame a single flower give both the vase and flower a life of their own. This interest in bringing life to silver is further established through her implementation of movement. She employs balance, weight and tension to suggest and create an impression of change.
